Abstract
The purpose of this essay is to begin to identify some of the inconspicuous issues related to dispositions in teacher education programs. My intent in doing so is to provide a starting point for gaining a professional consensus around a set of guidelines for attending to dispositions in teacher education. To that end, I describe six potential pitfalls of approaches to dispositions, and I point up the importance of attending to dispositions in teacher education as one part of the ethical and moral work of teaching.
